State awards for C.S. Rao, Kondepudi

VISAKHAPATNAM: Two of the noted citizens from the city – retired officer of Indian Economic Service and president of Praja Spandana C.S. Rao and 94-year old poet Kondepudi Subba Rao – will receive State Government awards in Hyderabad on Thursday morning on the occasion of International Day of Older Persons, 2009.

Announcing this at a media conference here on Wednesday, secretary of Vintage Visakha R.V. Gopala Rao said it was a matter of pride to the city that two out of the 10 recipients of the awards were from Vizag. The awards were announced by the Department of Welfare of the Disabled and Senior Citizens. “Mr. Subba Rao is serving the cause of Telugu literature. He has written over 100 books and is bringing out a literary magazine ‘Prasanna Bharati’. He was chosen for ‘Vayosreshta Sanman – Centenarian Award for life-time service,” he said. Mr. C.S.
