On Tuesday, over 20,000 employees went on a flash strike to protest Air India's gag order that hit flight operations. Management has threatened stern action including termination of service if the agitation continued.

Air India employees on Strike?

After the Mangalore crash, Air India sent a special flight for relatives of the victims. An Air India engineer was not available to clear the flight, so the airline used a Kingfisher engineer to clear the flight.

Air India engineers got upset, and issued a media release. The release said that Air India flouted norms.

Air India then issued a showcause notice to engineers and told them not to speak to the media.

Upset at this, the engineers called flash strike which was called by other ground staff.

Ayesha murderer slips out of cop custody: New Police story

In a dramatic escapade, the prime accused in the 2007 rape

and murder of a teenager in Vijayawada gave police the slip while he was being transported back from a hospital here, police said on Saturday.

P. Satyam Babu escaped from police custody at Suryapet in Nalgonda district shortly after midnight on Friday when the policemen escorting him got down at a hotel for food.

Police were taking the 22-year-old to Vijayawada after treatment at a hospital here.

The Vijayawada Police Commissioner, Mr P.S.R. Anjaneyulu, suspended 11 policemen escorting the accused for negligence. "I received the information at 6.30 am that the accused has escaped. I immediately ordered suspension of the policemen for their negligence," he said. A sub-inspector, two head constables and eight constables were escorting Babu back to Vijayawada. However, there were hardly any takers for the police version. Relatives of the accused and human rights activists alleged that the police were trying to eliminate him in a staged shootout to shield the real culprits in the case.

They pointed out that Babu can't even walk as he is suffering from a neurological disorder. Police claim that Babu raped and murdered 19-year-old pharmacy student Ayesha Miran at a hostel in Vijayawada on the night of Dec 27, 2007. Ayesha's murder had raised a huge public outcry and the police had failed to crack the case for several months.

Her body with stab injuries was found in the bathroom. A letter dropped by the 'murderer' stated that the girl was raped and murdered for refusing his request for 'love'.

Babu was arrested in August 2008. Police had earlier arrested two people but released them after the State Human Rights Commission intervened on petitions filed by their

relatives. Interestingly, Ayesha's parents had also rejected the police claim that Babu murdered

her and alleged that police were trying to save some politically influential people involved in the case.

Earlier this month, Babu's mother P. Mariyamma had tried to launch a hunger strike in Hyderabad, alleging that police was implicating him in a false case and torturing him. It

was on her petition that the high court had last month ordered the police to make arrangements for his treatment in Hyderabad.

India : Knocked out of T20 world cup

After India's humiliating exit from the World T20, skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni has said his side failed to play to its potential and admitted the IPL had taken a toll.

While making a reference to the Indian Premiere League (IPL), Dhoni said players need to manage their time better between playing, attending parties and travelling.

Players need to be smart, not only about cricket, but other things going around in the IPL. You have to respect your body and give some time to it because more than playing matches, attending parties and travel can take a toll, he said.

India needed to win by at least 20 runs against Sri Lanka but lost the Super Eights match by five wickets to crash out of the elite ICC event.
India looked set for big score as they were 90 for one in 10 overs after electing to bat and could score just 163 for five and ended up losing all second round matches.

"I think execution of plans from their bowlers was very good, even with set batsmen we couldn't score freely. Overall, batting is our strength and we should have done better. We didn't perform to our potential. The last 4-5 overs that they bowled really restricted us. We need to improve in quite a few areas," Dhoni said after the match.

Sri Lanka enhanced their chances of making the semifinals with this win and captain Kumar Sangakkara had nothing but praise for his bowlers.

"At the end, we were chasing at least 144. Even I thought India would make a very big score, but the guys came back really well at the back end to cut off the runs and to pick up wickets as well," he said.

"Dilshan really got the momentum back after the early wickets, and we have always talked about how good our young players are, and they showed that today. Whatever happens after this, we can rest assured we have done the best we can."

Angelo Mathews, adjudged Man-of-the-Match for his crucial 46-run knock said,"I had to give a good performance with the bat, I'm glad I did it at the right time."

Lt Col arrested for child pornography

A serving Army officer, Lieutenant Colonel Jagmohan Balbir Singh, has been arrested in Mumbai for disseminating child pornography over the Internet.

Forty two-year-old Singh was arrested by the Cyber Cell in Mumbai on Thursday and will stay in police custody till May 12
Singh allegedly posted and downloaded pornographic photos of foreign children between the ages of 3 and 10 on the internet. The German Federal Bureau spotted the photos on a child pornography site and traced the pictures to India. Interpol was alerted which then passed on the information to India's Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) who passed it onto the Mumbai Crime Branch.

The Mumbai police has taken two hard drives from Singh's house as evidence against him.

A spokesperson for the Army said Singh has been on study leave, and is currently not attached to any unit. He also confirmed that the Army will apply for bail so that it can deal with Singh's case.

Nirupama's boyfriend is charged with rape

In a new twist in the case of Nirupama Pathak, the young journalist who was found dead at her parent's home in Koderma, the police have booked the girl's boyfriend Priyabhanshu for abetment to suicide and have questioned him. Priyabhanshu now has to fight to keep himself out of jail.

This after Nirupama's parents approached the Koderma court to file a case against him.

This morning the court, ordered the Jharkhand police to charge Priyabhanshu Ranjan with rape, cheating and abetment of suicide of Nirupama, the woman Priyabhanshu Ranjan wanted to marry.
It's a bizarre turn of events since just five days back the police had ruled out the possibility of suicide and arrested Nirupama Pathak's mother on charges of murder.
The case was registered on the basis of the postmortem report that said Nirupama died of smothering and her body was hung after she died.
Nirupama was then believed to have been killed for defying her family and wanting to marry a boy outside her caste.
"There are no external injury marks on her which means that she was probably pinned down by a few people and then smothered," said P Mohan, Civil Surgeon, Koderma.

Nirupama's mother Sudha Pathak is still in custody and last night the police seized Priyabhanshu's mobile and laptop and Nirupama's diary from her flat in Delhi, sources say they wanted a sample of handwriting to match it with the suicide note.
So, is the police going back on their claim that Nirupama was murdered by her own family.
"I am scared for my life," says Priyabhanshu
